HD Broadcasting with Autofocus System Built in |
| Fujinon introduced the world’s first high definition TV
zoom lenses “PRECISION FOCUS* ” with the autofocus system incorporated
in NAB 2004 held in Las Vegas, USA, from April 19, 2004. |
|
* “Precision Focus System” is the unique autofocus system that has been developed for high definition broadcasting jointly by Fuji Photo Optical Co., Ltd. and NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) for the first time in the world. Our Precision Focus System recently received “Technology Development Award” of Motion Picture and Television Engineering Society of Japan, Inc., and is highly evaluated for its advancedness in the broadcasting industry. We have incorporated this unique system in two zoom lens models DIGI POWER 101 and DIGI POWER 13, and will expand the Precision Focus lineup according to market needs. |
|
| 1. Main features of the zoom lens with Precision Focus System incorporated | |||
| * | The world’s first autofocus broadcast zoom lenses that meet an increasing requirement of fine focusing for high image quality in the high definition broadcasting | ||
| * | The Precision Focus System allows easy and quick confirmation and adjustment of focus on the lens finder, and can demonstrate its excellent capability in live broadcasts. |
||
| * | The autofocus lens can bring a fast-moving
object into focus, and can be a reliable supporter in sports broadcasts
of soccer games,
track and field events, and so on. |
||
| 2. Background of development of Precision Focus | |||
| Since the start of satellite broadcasting and digital terrestrial TV broadcasting, high definition programs with high quality images have been increasing in number. So, strict focusing conditions are more required in shooting sites, while confirmation and adjustment of fine focusing on the lens finder have been virtually impossible. The Precision Focus System has been developed to address the pressing needs of videographers for easy and quick fine focusing on the lens finder. | |||
| 3. Summary of Precision Focus models | |||
| (1) | Product name: Precision Focus |

The world’s highest magnification zoom lens DIGI POWER 101 | ||
| The world’s widest power zoom lens DIGI POWER 13 | |||
| (3) | Specific features | ||
| * | Quick assistance in focus confirmation and adjustment | ||
| In high definition shooting with a limited range of being in
focus, a videographer often feels not confident of a shooting object being
really in sharp focus. The Precision Focus gives a definite assistance
to the videographer by confirmation of being in focus and quick, automatic
correction of being out of focus |
|||
| * | Simple setting of a focusing position at any objects | ||
| TV program production often requires some objects not in
the screen center to be brought into focus as an effective presentation.
To meet these needs, we have provided these new lenses with a function
to set a focusing position at any objects within the field of view. The
setting can be performed by a simple operation of a square frame on the
view finder by a controller. |
|||
| * | Capable of capturing a rush-coming object in sharp focus | ||
| It is extremely hard to keep a rapidly and constantly moving object in sharp focus during soccer games and track and field events. The Precision Focus lens can trace an object coming close or going far at a great speed all the way in exact focus. | |||
| 4. Principle of Precision Focus | ||
| The Precision Focus has been developed to have
a contrast control system utilizing a characteristic that an image contrast
becomes the highest when an object is brought into complete focus. The
system has a unique mechanism with two CCDs for focus detection in addition
to the CCD for shooting to control a zoom lens focusing so that the contrasts
of the two images generated by the two CCDs may match each other. This control function keeps a fast-moving object in constant focus. |
||
| CCD A and CCD B are arranged in the lens at an equal distance from the image-forming plane to detect the focusing conditions at the front and the back against the camera image-forming plane. | The crossing point of the contrast value curves of the images generated by CCD A and CCD B is the best focus position of the camera. | |
